About Us

  • JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur stands aloft on a solid foundation of past glory and prestige.
  • This college was started in the year 1946, under the post war national reconstruction program and functioned at Guindy campus, Madras for two years and was shifted to Anantapur in 1948.
  • It was in the year 1958 that the college was shifted to the present permanent buildings accommodating the Administrative block,Laboratories, the Engineering Departments, Library and the Hostel blocks.
1946-1972 It was affiliated to the Madras university and S V University
2nd Oct 1972 The college became constituent college of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and the name was changed as JNTU College of Engineering, Anantapur
2000 The college was given academic autonomy by the erstwhile university JNTU, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
20th Aug 2008 JNTU was divided into 4 universities and the institution became constituent college of J.N.T.University Anantapur and the college name changed as “JNTUA College of Engineering, Anantapur”

The institution stood strong on foundation laid by great academicians and inherited the legacy of leadership from those people in producing great engineers to serve the society.

  • The glorious past of the institution and its emergence as the temple of learning in the southern region of Andhra Pradesh were cherished in the celebrations of the
    • Silver Jubilee (1971)
    • Golden Jubilee (1996)
    • Diamond Jubilee (2007).
  • The institution has NBA accreditation for the branches of civil, Mechanical, E.E.E, E.C.E, and Chemical from 2005 for a period of 3 years.

In a sprawling campus of 155.23 Acres the College is putting all its efforts by introducing new trends in Teaching Learning Processes, towards realizing the objectives of stated vision and mission and impacting the quality of Technical Education.

  • The institution has applied for Autonomous status from UGC is also awaited for the visit of peer team to the campus.
